An Interview with Kelsey Dech, Marketing Communications Lead at Gentle Fawn

Tell us about Gentle Fawn.

Gentle Fawn is a women’s fashion brand that focuses on effortless designs and thoughtful, handmade prints. We are currently sold online at gentlefawn.com, and in nearly 700 multi-brand stores across Canada and the USA.

What is the inspiration for your designs?

We pull inspiration from anywhere and everywhere – whether it be on the runways or flowers in bloom, our designers travel near and far to draw concepts to pull into each collection.

Tell us about the person who loves Gentle Fawn. What are a few words that describe their style and vibe?

Styled up or down, for festival season or at the office, Gentle Fawn fans love the versatility and femininity of our pieces.

What was the inspiration to start Gentle Fawn?

Gentle Fawn was started in 2003 by husband and wife team, Danny and Carla Hogg, who saw a need in the market for beautifully made, quality pieces. The goal was to design items that any woman could wear, and I think we’ve accomplished just that!

What is your proudest accomplishment to date?

Last Summer I championed Gentle Fawn’s first editorial photo shoot in LA with blogger @officiallyquigley for SS18, and the photos turned out amazing. Now, I’m in the midst of planning another!

Do you have a favorite quote or mantra that you live by?

My Pinterest is filled with fun and inspirational quotes [read: filled]. I don’t play favourites, but one that comes to mind is a line from a City and Color song called ‘Take Care’ that’s simply “you are a single grain”. I think it’s a beautiful statement that lends perspective to how you are a single person in a very big world, but you are also an individual that holds so much potential and power to make a change.

What are some jewelry staples you can't live without?

I love my rings! Both statement and simple styles. I’m also obsessed with easy to wear, dainty necklaces we’re seeing a lot of. They’re the perfect layering piece!
