Tell us a bit about the Born Native brand. How did you get started? Any special meaning behind the name?

The brand is me - I’m South African (from Cape Town) and I came to America for an adventure, but stayed for love. My life took such an unexpected turn, it made me realize that only I can make the path I want in life. It was then that I decided to stop wasting time doing a job I hated, and start doing what I was most passionate about - this beautiful planet we live on (sustainability comes in) and making women feel powerful through what they wear (fashion). BORN - My brand was born in the USA. NATIVE – I will always be native to South Africa. Born Native is a wonderful combination of these two great cultures, America and South Africa.

What helps you stay inspired and excited?

Setting big, hairy, audacious goals, surrounding myself with love and laughter, staying accountable, and always persevering.

What are some jewelry staples you can't live without?

Chunky gold earrings – they just go so well with everything! My delicate gold necklace with a Virgo emblem attached – I inherited from Mum.
