Insights, lessons, and a behind the scenes look at the Rendezvous event that shaped the Criscara brand & 2017 Jewelry Collection - capturing the vibes of "Vous"

One of my favorite things about Vous was waking up super early and watching the world wake up.

Building a campfire, putting on a pot of cowboy coffee, then sitting back by the fire, wrapped in a warm blanket with a steaming cup of coffee in my hands, watching the sun start to rise over the top of the tipi poles while the warm orange glow from the sunrise starts to wash over camp.

It was the ultimate me time, just me and the wildlife, until eventually camp would start to come alive, and people would wake up and slowly step outside for an early morning stretch in the crisp clean air.

Curious how to make cowboy coffee?

It's super easy to do while camping or on a road trip!

  1. Bring water to a boil in a pot over the camp fire (or camp stove)
  2. Add coarsely ground coffee (approximately 3/4 cup coffee to every quart of water)
  3. Let it return to a boil, then immediately remove from fire and cover
  4. Wait for the grounds to sink to the bottom (takes about 5 minutes, or if you're impatient like me, you can put a paper towel or coffee filter over your mug to filter out the grounds and pour it right away)
  5. Pour, sit back, and enjoy your coffee

Alternatives:

  • My favorite option when I am not doing primitive camping (i.e. when I can actually use modern appliances...), is to use my AeroPress or French Press on the road.  Even easier than the steps above, but a little too smooth and delicious to be true cowboy coffee. :D
