Up next in our Interview Series is Lsea Swimwear. Inspired by the tropical beaches of the Dominican Republic, each of their swimsuits are reversible and made in the USA.  Best of all, each swimsuit purchased gives back to Dominican children to "help them dream big and give them the tools to make their dreams become a reality."

An Interview with Bethany Ludlam, Lsea Swimwear Owner

Tell us about Lsea Swimwear.

Lsea is a Jacksonville FL based swim brand. It started back in 2015 with the purpose of making a difference. We specialize in high quality reversible swim that is all made here in the USA. Each purchase gives back to a small community in the Dominican Republic. When I visited the Dominican for the first time in early 2015 I fell in love with the children and communities. I wanted to help but needed financial backing. Inspired by the tropical beaches of the Dominican I started Lsea. We now have a team of 10 ladies who cut and sew all of the suits. As Lsea has grown we have been able to feed over 100 kids and support a preschool in a village that didn’t have that available to their small children.

What is the inspiration for your designs?

I love all things tropical! You’ll see that in a lot of my designs. I love tropical flowers and palm trees. I try to offer a wide variety of prints and styles so that it will appeal to all of our customers.

Tell us about the person who loves Lsea Swimwear. What are a few words that describe their style and vibe?

I can’t say enough about our customers! They are so amazing and supportive! I see them as a group of beautiful beach loving babes! They are adventurous and fun! I’ve been lucky enough to get to know many of them through their emails and messages! We couldn’t do what we do without them and I’m thankful for each one!

Tell us about you. What was your inspiration to start Lsea Swimwear?

It really all started in the Dominican! That will always be such a special place for me!

What is your proudest accomplishment to date?

The most exciting thing has been getting in local surf shops and swim boutiques. Their is nothing like seeing your designs in retail spaces.

Any fun facts we should know about you?

I’m originally from Virginia but moved to Florida when I was 19. I am a huge animal lover! I have two Great Danes and 4 cats. I love Mexican food and eat it at least once a week! When I was younger I wanted to do interior design. If I didn’t design bikinis that is probably what I would do. My husband and I bought a fixer upper four years ago and have renovated every room.

What are some jewelry staples you can't live without?

I usually wear a couple of rings. My favorites are gold with blue stones. I also love simple stackable metal jewelry.

So, what's coming up next for Lsea Swimwear that you are most excited about?

We just launched the first four prints of the Summer collection! We have six more we are working on so I’m really excited about launching those! I will also be working on some new styles for next year soon so I’m looking forward to designing those.
